2016 – Keeping up the annual tradition
A day at the beach

Rosewood at the Beach

Each summer, Rosewood residents visit a local beach for a little fun in the sun !

For the past nine years the staff of Rosewood Manor has taken its residents to Pleasant Road Beach in Harwich.

The annual beach visit is a much-anticipated event, and is talked about long beforehand and well afterwards. Equipped with a tent, umbrellas, picnic foods, sunhats, sunscreen and footbaths of salt water, we head out for a day at the beach.

Last week nine residents of Rosewood Manor, along with their caregivers, visited Pleasant Road Beach in West Harwich for an afternoon of sand and surf on Nantucket Sound. This year’s trip was Rosewood’s sixth annual beach visit. Ages of the beachgoers included some in their mid-90’s and over 100 years; some in the group have been visiting local area beaches since childhood and young adulthood. Assistance, including the use of beach wheelchairs, was provided by the Harwich Recreation Department.

Last year’s beach visit was postponed from August 8th until August 27th due to weather. And even though August 27, 2013 turned out to be a bit cloudy, residents enjoyed their time at Pleasant Road Beach where they had the place pretty much to themselves.
